If you watched the new season of the Biggest Loser Families last night I wanted to add my opinion from a trainers point of view. What I like about the show is that it demonstrates that any person no matter how far gone a person’s health can turn around their weight and health if they chose too.
I am still inspired after each episode and proud to see the competitors taking on their habits and making a difference in their health issues.
The cop guy who couldn’t do more than 30 minutes of exercise do to his health still lost 17 pounds. This shows the importance that diet plays even above fitness to lose weight. Five small meals and eating the right amound of calories is a guranteed way to lose weight that keeps it off for life.

BMI, or body mass index, is a simple calculation to determine whether a person is a healthy weight. BMI is calculated by dividing a person’s weight (in kg) by their height (in meters) squared. Or for non-metric measurements – weight (lbs) / height2 (in) x 703. However, you don’t need to be able to calculate it yourself as there are tables available to look it up. These can be easily found on the internet.
A BMI of between 18.5 and 25 is considered to be normal. Below this a person is considered underweight, and above this, overweight. A person with a BMI over 30 is considered obese.

For fat loss and energy, VPX has a series of products called Redline. These products stimulate a “shivering response”. When you shiver your body releases fat to try to increase your body temperature. Redline also has ingredients to help you burn fat. The products are available in both capsule and ready-to-drink forms. One product, called Redline Princess is designed specifically for women.
Among VPX’s muscle building range is the Zero Impact line. Zero Impact products combine protein and essential fatty acids and, in some products, also carbohydrates. They are available as shakes or bars.

If you think the idea of challenging yourself to run a marathon is appealing, you’ll need to have a good marathon training program.
If you’re considering marathon running you probably already have a reasonable level of fitness. Maybe you already have a good cardio program which includes training at varying intensities.
Training for a marathon is a little more specialized. Firstly, you need to include long run days in your program. As the name suggests, this is a day when you go on a longer than usual run. It should be a minimum of 60 minutes. Once a week is enough. More than this and you increase the risk of sustaining overuse injuries.

If you’ve ever watched The Biggest Loser on TV you might wonder how the contestants manage to survive the training programs they’re put on. Maybe you think the workouts are a bit over the top; harder than what the average person would handle. Well, maybe, but the basics of The Biggest Loser workouts are ideal for a weight loss program.
A good weight loss program needs to have a component to improve the cardiovascular system. Low intensity endurance training requires you to work at a slow, steady pace for a reasonable length of time. You start with however long you are comfortable with and gradually increase to no more than an hour. This builds your endurance and improves your body’s ability to burn fat efficiently.

Joint disorders can be caused by a variety of things. Two of the most common are injury and arthritis, though they can also be caused by some diseases, such as the autoimmune disease, lupus.
Joint disorders can arise due to injury to tendons, ligaments, muscles, bones or nerves.
We’ve probably all heard of tennis elbow. This is a type of tendon injury, and is caused by tears in the tendon which attaches the muscle to the bone in the elbow. It’s not just restricted to tennis players though. Anything that puts strain on the muscle attachment in the elbow, or any other joint, can cause tendonitis.
It’s probably fairly unlikely that any of us will get through life without getting a sprain in one of our joints. Sprains occur when we tear or overstretch the ligaments and surrounding tissue in a joint. Ligaments are the connective tissues which join bone to bone.
Some joint disorders can be caused by compressed nerves. An example of this is carpal tunnel syndrome, which affects the wrists. Damage to muscles can also sometimes lead to joint problems.

If you want to increase your fitness and tone your muscles, weight training can be a valuable exercise. Some women may avoid working with weights because they’re worried that they’ll end up looking too muscular. However, this needn’t be the case. Great benefit can be achieved even using fairly light weights.
Weight training for women, as for men, can both build muscle and increase bone density. The ability to increase bone density is, perhaps, more important for women than men as women are more prone to osteoporosis - a disease which weakens the bones and makes them more susceptible to fractures - particularly following menopause.
If you’ve decided to go ahead with some weight training, there are a couple of simple rules you should follow.
