What is ephedrine

In the past, ephedrine has been used in Western medicine as a decongestant, and as a bronchodilator for the treatment of asthma.

The Chinese, however, have been using ephedra, the plant from which ephedrine is derived, for several thousand years. They call ephedra, ma huang. In Chinese medicine it has been used not only to treat asthma, allergies and hay fever but also as a metabolic stimulant.

Today, in the Western world, ephedrine diet pills have become popular due to this ability to stimulate the metabolism. This means that it can help your body to burn more fat. It also acts as an appetite suppressant.

Many of the ephedrine diet pills on the market today contain synthetic ephedrine, not the herbal form of ephedra. Some of the products available combine ephedrine and caffeine, and some contain aspirin as well. Studies have shown that ephedrine seems to promote better weight loss when it is combined with caffeine. However, if you use this type of ephedrine supplement, you need to be aware of your caffeine intake from other sources so that you don’t overdo it. Aspirin is sometimes added to ephedrine diet pills to prolong the effects of the ephedrine. It appears that aspirin helps to keep ephedrine in the bloodstream longer by reducing the amount of ephedrine that is excreted in the urine.

Ephedrine diet pills aren’t suitable for everyone, but then, what dietary supplement is? There have been some side effects, including increased blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia and heart arrhythmia, reported by some people but if you are healthy, sensible about the amount of caffeine in your diet and only take a fairly low dose, ephedrine diet pills could be just the thing to increase your body’s fat burning capabilities.
