Tiger at the US Open: his fittest look ever

Is it just me, or has Tiger Woods put on even more muscle recently?  Watching him today during the opening round of the US Open, he looked more muscular and stronger than ever, which shows the benefit of personal training. Tiger has used a personal trainer for a long time, and his fitness has an almost mystical quality to it in the golf world, and the actual specifics of his workouts have long been a famously guarded mystery:  what does he do?  How can he be so muscular and yet so flexible?  In truth, his workouts, though obviously very effective, won’t be much different from those of any other highly trained athlete who has to depend on flexibility, strength, power, endurance, balance and skill in his sport.  A combination of core training, balance and stability training, heavy weight lifting, power and speed training, cardiovascular exercise, and as important as anything, golf stretches make up his routine.  Some variation of all of these exercises would be prescribed to him by ANY good certified personal trainer who knew sports performance curriculum.  The exact ways they are applied by Tiger are given to him by his trainer.

But here is the big difference: Tiger actually DOES what is possible!!  He actually takes advantage of the sport science that is available and puts it into his regimen, and as we can all see, it pays off.  He treats his body as an athlete would, because he IS an athlete.  If other golfers trained like he did, they would get similar results.

The same types of exercises that he does make up the LiveLeanToday.com curriculum of online personal training.  We have the same stuff available!  That’s why we are writing about it.  Come to the site, start with our Golf Fitness section and check it out.
